Plastering

Overboarding & Why ?

Overboarding & Why ?

At Cappa Property Maintenance, our plastering work is all about smooth finishes and lasting quality. Over time, walls can become cracked, uneven, or damaged, or may need refreshing before decorating. From repairing problem areas to full re-skims, we prepare every surface with care and precision. A well-plastered wall makes all the difference to the final look of a room, which is why we focus on clean lines, even surfaces, and minimal disruption — leaving your home ready for decorating and built to stand the test of time.

Overboarding & Why ?

Overboarding is a plastering method where new plasterboard is fixed over an existing ceiling or wall and then skimmed to create a smooth, fresh finish. It’s often used when surfaces are cracked, uneven, sagging, or covered in old artex but remain structurally sound. Overboarding is a quicker, cleaner, and more cost-effective alternative to full removal, with less disruption and mess, while still providing a strong, flat surface ready for decorating.

Other plastering methods may be used depending on the condition of your walls or ceilings. These include patch repairs for local damage, bonding to level uneven surfaces, or re-skimming to refresh existing plaster. Using the right approach ensures a smooth, durable finish while minimising disruption and unnecessary cost.
